In the wake of Justin Timberlake’s DWI, rumors have been swirling about the former NSYNC singer. Fortunately for Timberlake, my fact-check has determined that he does not have AIDs nor HIV.  An anonymous X account falsely reported in the wake of Timberlake’s DWI arrest that he had several drugs in his system, including “poppers,” coke, and Truvada, which is an HIV drug.  

According to Metro:

“A spoof account of Pop Crave called Poo Crave tweeted: ‘Justin Timberlake allegedly had traces of molly, poppers, Truvada, and coke in his bloodstream following his DWI arrest in New York.’”

The Tweet got over 20 million impressions, which included yours truly.  Among those drugs, Truvada is an HIV medicine.  Twitter users took this info at face value and logically concluded that Timberlake had HIV.  This rumor is not going to be good for the pop star’s love-life (update: Timberlake is married with two kids).  

The fact that Timberlake’s mug shot had him looking a little gaunt and haggard did not help quell this scurrilous rumor either.  Twitter users speculated that Timberlake might be gay– or how else to explain the HIV diagnosis?  

But in the end, Timberlake merely had a DUI, which is arguably a better problem to have than AIDs.
