Lauren Southern’s plan was to sleep next to Andrew Tate in a hotel room–but then she was surprised when he kissed her.
Southern, whom Newsweek refers to as an alt-right influencer, is releasing a tell-all memoir about her time in the media.
In a released chapter on her Substack, Southern describes a drunken night of clubbing with Tate, after which he takes her to a hotel room to sleep next to one another which Southern agrees to. But then came the unexpected kiss which Southern describes:
“He kissed me. I wasn't expecting it, and I wasn't looking for it, but I kissed him back briefly and then told him I wanted to sleep. I was extraordinarily tired. He wanted to go further.”
From there, Southern describes being forcibly taken by Tate, which Tate denies by the way. So who do you believe–Tate or Southern?
It started with a Tweet. Lauren posted on X in July:
I’d like to hear more about that psychotic break. And the marriage meltdown, that sounds juicy. Southern’s marriage has certainly been the subject of internet speculation. Meanwhile, I find it interesting that she would admit that she’s psychotic, or at least was for a little while.
One thing you would have to say is that she’s been in the thick of it, so she does have a story to tell. Let’s give her that. But I’m not a big fan of her writing. Anyway, it’s written in a breezy style which I’m sure is meant for the widest possible audience.
As for the chapter she released on her Substack: There’s a shock Factor: she discusses a cocaine binge and Tommy Robinson, throwing in drugs and sensationalism. It’s a shortcut to make interesting writing.
Otherwise, it’s self-aggrandizing, all the while throwing other right-wingers, such as Robinson and Andrew Tate, under the bus.
Southern implies: They care about money she doesn’t. They’re in it for the fame, she wants a deeper purpose.
It’s just a naive attitude in which she assigns to herself the best motives and assigns to everyone else bad motives. For example, this passage casts Southern as the profound one as compared to her peers in the right wing:
“...part of me was just not satisfied with what I was seeing or where I was going. If I built a news network, if I got more fame, if I got more wealth—what was it all for? I wanted to know where this was headed. I can’t help but laugh at the way I used to question men. They’d confidently declare their plans to dominate their field or conquer the world, and I would simply stare into their eyes and ask, But why? For what? What does this do for your soul? I’d watch something in them crack, something I didn’t understand yet.”
Thank god we have Lauren Southern thinking of the well-being of people’s souls.
Lauren mentions experiencing imposter syndrome while giving the pitch to the Tate brothers and the crypto bros. That’s what this is all about: A severe case of imposter syndrome– and well justified too.
